Searching for: Information on
Henry Howard, b. 1817 or 1820 in Liverpool.

I am looking for information on Henry Howard, b. 1817 or 1820 in Liverpool. His parents were Henry Howard and Elizabeth Autriss. He married Mary Smith, we think in England. He came to Wisconsin in 1840's. Family legend says that his grandfather was an Earl of Carlisle. Henry was supposedly a child prodigy on the violin and played a command performance for the King when he was 9 years old. How true this is, I don't know. Henry died in Wisconsin in 1894. I would like to find out about Henry's siblings, if any, his father's parents and siblings, and lineage in connection with the Earl's of Carlisle. Family legend says he was related to Catherine Howard, unfortunate wife of Henry VIII. I happened on to your website while browsing the LDS site. Hope someone can help me.  Thank you very much.

Searching for: Information on
John James Howard

I wonder if you can help with my search for the family of my late grandfather, John James Howard, born in England, location not known but believed to be in the proximity of London. Born Feb. 28,1863, parents names Thomas and Elizabeth. He is known to have had at least one brother, Thomas who fought, and was killed in the Boer War.Possibly he had two sisters as well. He emigrated to Montreal in the 1870's and married my grandmother Alice Margaret there, July 21, 1890.

We know little else about his origins, but his daughters had some reason to think that there was some family difficulty that led to his emigration. None of this may have any significance to your family, but if by chance you could suggest a direction for me to take, it would be much appreciated. Thanks for considering this.

Searching for: Information on Anne Howard born, c. 1614 Greenwich, England

Anne Howard may be my 8th great grandmother. She was born about 1614 in Greenwich, England. The familysearch.org database lists her as the wife of Jeffery Ferris, who apparently was one of the founders of Greenwich ,CT.  Problem is that the Ferris family web site indicates 3 possible names for Jeffrey's first wife (from whom all descendants derive), none of which is Anne Howard. I  E-mailed them and they indicated that no one is sure who Jeffery's first wife was. They do say she came from royalty and the Morman database (familysearch.org) does indicate that Anne Howard did come from royalty. I also called the Greenwich,CT historical society and the town historian also indicates that no one is sure who Jeffery Ferris' first wife was. I have also found another database on Ancestry.com which also lists her as Jeffrey's wife. The Morman database lists Anne's parents as Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646) and Alethea Talbot (b. abt. 1581, d. 1654) and her grandparents as Phillip Howard (b. 1556, d. 1595),  Anne Dacre (b.1557, d. 1630), Gilbert 7th Earl of Shrewsbury & Talbot ( b. 1552, d. 1616) and Mary Cavendish (b. 1556, d. 1632). If anyone has any info on Anne including info on her relationship ( if any ) with Jeffrey Ferris, I would be very grateful.

Searching for: Information on Mary Ruth Howard

I am trying to get information about my Grandma; Mary Ruth Howard; all I know at present is that she gave birth to my mother in 1902 at Heanor in Derbyshire. Her "husband" was Alfred Weston of Heanor; shown on my Mother's birth certificate to be an actor. There runs a very strong rumour in our family that Alfred and Mary were never married but nevertheless they stayed to-gether until the end of their days and raised a large family which included 2 Barnardo boys and Faith Weston who suffered Downs Syndrome and died; aged 21; in 1939. My aim in life is to know more about these people who were a very loving family and would appreciate any help at all that you can give.

Searching for: Information on Rose (or Rosa) Elizabeth Howard (5/13/1864-3/10/1920)

My great-grandmother was Rose (or Rosa) Elizabeth Howard (5/13/1864-3/10/1920) who married Charles Elmer Mead on 1/2/1886 in Bridgewater Twp. Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, USA.  She has been found in the US 1880 census records of Bridgewater Twp. at age 16 as a servant in the home of Jacob and Chloe Tewksbury.  She was listed as born in Canada. In the 1870 census records she was found in the home of Eri Gregory and Eliza A. Bissell Gregory who both died before 1880.  I have no information on any siblings or parents.

In her obituary she was listed as coming to Pennsylvania from Vermont, but no information on her family. The Orphans Court records were checked in Susq. Co. Courthouse in Montrose.  In 1876 it was found that Henry W. Howard was made guardian of Edgar L. (under 14 yrs.) and Hettie M.Howard (above 14 yrs.) (minor children of Lucy A. Howard, deceased).  However, nothing was found on Rose Howard who would have been 12 years old.  There were several other Howards living in Susquehanna Co. at this time.  Any leads on Rose's parents or information on where she was born in Canada would be greatly appreciated.
