I'm looking for help. My great-grandfather was John Howard, born 28 July 1846 in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, England (according to a note my grandmother wrote). I have no information on his parents or siblings. He emigrated to Canada sometime before 1875 and settled in the area of Stayner, Ontario. His first wife's name was Elizabeth (surname unknown). His second wife, my great-grandmother, was Mary Briggs. If it is any help, his only son, the product of his first marriage, was named John Waudby Howard. My great-grandfather was known as John Howard Sr., and the son as John Howard Jr., but I don't have proof that ggf's middle name was Waudby. Can any one help? |

Hi Graham, I stopped by your site recently and, as usual, enjoyed looking through your information. On your Howard Links page I noticed that you don't have a link to us. I have expanded and improved what I used to call The Worldwide Howard Family Web Site. For the Howard Family we have a large searchable OnLine database which is growing weekly. We also decided to publish SINGLE NAME reports for Howard Names that are being "actively" researched by OnLine Howard Hunters... I would greatly appreciate a link to our web site, if you feel we are deserving... I have TWO links to your site... The first is via the Howard Family Web Ring, which I manage. The second is on OUR Howard Links page. If you see any other pages where you would like a link, let me know. By the way, your link to the Howard Family Electronic Newsletter will no longer function because Ramonyca Howard has "thrown in the towel"... What a shame!!! She has turned it over to the Howard Family Association. I really hated to lose her input to the OnLine Family of Howard Hunters.HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! |

Hello! Greetings from the UK! Have just come across your web-site - congratulations! Hoping that I'll finally, after years of being unsuccessful on the 'Howard trail', strike lucky! Daughter of JOHN HOWARD (of Whetstone, Middx, England His occup: Plumber / Glazier) and CLARA (formerly PICTON) MARIA CLARA HOWARD married OSBORNE PAWSEY on 27 DEC 1868 at the Weld Chapel, Southgate, Middx, England Shown on 1871 Census as living in Palmers Green, Middx, England By 1881 not listed on any UK Census. I've searched National Death Indexes 1871 - 1943 - nothing! Heard that a number of the Picton family emigrated to New Zealand; might MARIA CLARA (HOWARD) and OSBORNE PAWSEY moved overseas also? I know that my Howard and Graham side of the family came from Great Britain sometime. However, I am not sure when, or, through whom. My father was Harvey Jeffrey Howard; his father was Charles Franklin Howard; his father was Greenup Jackman Howard; his father was Joseph Howard; and his father was Charles Howard. My father's mother was Laura Ann Graham; her father was John Graham, from Ohio. My father told me, many years ago, that John Graham was, originally, from England. However, on all US Census records, he stated that he was from Ohio. If you have any information of those Howard's who came to the USA from Great Britain, please inform me. Thank you for your time in this effort. |
